1811 Classic Head Large Cent

The 1811 Classic Head Cent had the lowest mintage of the series at just 218,025 coins. Two major varieties are listed in the Red Book, one with a normal date, while the other is struck from an overdated die (1811/0). The over date is the scarcer of the two.

Most surviving examples are well circulated, although a few uncirculated pieces exist. An example of the normal date variety graded PCGS MS63 Brown sold for $17,250 at auction in February 2012. An example of the 1811/0 Large Cent graded NGC MS 63 Brown, representing the finest example of the over date variety, sold for $41,400 at an auction in September 2010.
